James F. Prather, age 87 of Paris, IL passed away at 5:15 a.m., Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Paris Community Hospital. He was a member of the New Beginnings Church and employed as a technician at Mosler Safe Company.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the New Beginnings Church, 526 Clay St., Paris, IL with Pastor John Youngblood officiating.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church. Burial will be in Edgar Cemetery.

Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.

He was born in Eldorado, IL May 8, 1929 the son of the late Fredrick and Margaret A. Lands Prather.

James married Dorothy I. Shuttle Prather on December 16, 1950 in Equality, IL

He is survived by his wife Dorothy; his daughters: Elaine (William) Wertman of Paris, Vivian (Glenn) Jansa of Shorewood, IL; his siblings William (Sandra) Prather of Equality, IL, Ginny (William) Jones of Rolla, IL, Anne Cohen of California, Marjorie York of Portage, IN, Mary Weidemann of Equality, IL; his grandchildren: David Wertman of Paris, Jodi Hall of Champaign, IL Staci Wertman of Paris; his great-grandchildren: Brendan Wertman, Alexandra Wertman, Serina Auton and Samantha Auton all of Paris.
