James F. Larrance Sr.'s Obituary

James (Jim) F. Larrance Sr., age 87, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 5:33 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

In keeping with State of Illinois mandates due to COVID-19 Pandemic, everyone attending the service must wear a mask while inside the funeral home. Everyone is welcome but we ask that you keep your visit short so that all who wish to pay their respects may do so.

A visitation will be held from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home in Paris, Illinois. A funeral service will follow, with burial in Edgar Cemetery in Paris, Illinois.

He was born April 2, 1933 in Logan, Illinois, the son of the late Virgil and Stella Nickles Larrance.

Jim served his country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Marine Corps.

He was best known for his trucking; but Jim also worked as a carpenter and an electrician for Zeigler Coal Company throughout his lifetime.

Jim was active in many clubs and organizations over the years, including 40&8, the American Legion Post 211, where you could find him working their monthly fish fry, driving the locomotive "Locy" in the parade, and serving as a proud member of the Honor Guard. He was also active in the VA by volunteering for the Van Transport. Although Jim kept busy during his lifetime, he always found time for what he enjoyed the most, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and his morning coffee with his friends.

He is survived by his children: James (Jennifer) Larrance Jr. of Paris, Illinois, Autumn (Nels) Kasey of Ashmore, Illinois, Deborah Coleman of McAllen, Texas; his sister: Roszilla Mae Beasley of Paxton, Illinois; his grandchildren: Ashley Guajardo of McAllen, Texas, Cameron (Liana) Coleman of McAllen, Texas, Justin (Shelby) Larrance of Hilliard, Ohio, Landon (Ashlee Hiatt) Larrance of Paris, Illinois, Garrett Larrance of Paris, Illinois, Kiersten (John) Edgar of Athens, Illinois, Zara (Faustino) Munoz of St. Louis, Missouri, and his 9 great-grandchildren.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents: Virgil and Stella Larrance; his siblings: Virgil Larrance Jr., Larry Larrance, Charles Striker, Tootie York; and his friend and former spouse, Sondra Larrance.

Memorials may be made out to the American Legion Post 211 in Paris, Illinois.
