James R. Geekie, age 84 of Paris, passed away at 11:24 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Paris Community Hospital. James was a United States Bankruptcy Trustee. He was a United States Army Veteran, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a Third Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 860, a Fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus Assembly 219, a member of American Legion Post 211, Elks BPOE 812, Rotary Club, and was an avid golfer. Born January 31, 1931 in St Louis, Missouri, he was the son of the late Rolla and Elizabeth (Cooney) Geekie. He married Geraldine "Jerry" Rose (Murphy) Geekie October 5, 1950 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris. She passed away December 21, 2013. Survivors include two children, David Geekie and his wife Laura of Frankfort, Illinois and Melissa Greinke and her husband David of Valparaiso, Indiana, four brothers; Robert Geekie of Kankakee, William Geekie of Springfield, Thomas Geekie of Akron, Ohio, and Charles Geekie of Venice, Florida, four grandchildren; Sarah and Rachel Geekie of Frankfort, Illinois, and Annika and Gage Greinke of Valparaiso, Indiana, and two nieces, Martha Ann Waller and Kathy Waller of Placentia, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one son Scott Geekie. Visitation for Mr. Geekie will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 21 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 21 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. David Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Military Graveside Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 211 and VFW Post 3601. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Faith In Action.
