James Hurley Findley, age 92 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 8:15 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2018 at Paris Healthcare Center in Paris. He was a home construction contractor and a member of American Legion Post 211. Mr. Findley was a United States Army veteran of World War II.

Born December 25, 1925 in Marshall, Illinois, he was the son of the late Hurley and Pearl (Buhler) Findley. Survivors include one son Mike Findley, one granddaughter Angie (Jason) Roehm of Liberty Township, Ohio, three great-grandchildren; Ashlyn, Addison, and Jackson, a close friend Marlene Colter of Paris, Illinois, and siblings; Betty (Bill, deceased) Bess of Marshall, Illinois, Don (Ruth) Findley of Paris, Illinois, Phyllis (Tony, deceased) Meeks of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Ruth (Tom) Ferguson of The Villages, Florida, and Joan (Jim, deceased) Thomas of Orange County, California. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sue Carpenter and five siblings; Jane (John) Dickerson, Bea (Bob) Stewart, Jean Henley, Mack Findley, and Alta (Duane) Connelly.

Following cremation, a memorial visitation for Mr. Findley will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Memorial services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment of the cremains will be at a later date in Edgar Cemetery.
