JACQUELYN LOUISE (HALL) HUFFAKER

Jacquelyn Louise (Hall) Huffaker passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Paris Healthcare Center. She was born July 5, 1930 in Sullivan, Indiana to the late Jack and Etta Dixon Hall. The family moved to Paris in 1938. Her father was with the Ohio Oil Company. She graduated from Paris High School in 1948. She had one sister Jane (Tom) Tutt, now deceased, from Mattoon, Illinois and a brother, Carl (Linda) Hall who lives in Georgetown, Illinois.
The funeral will be at the Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2016. Visitation will be held one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Edgar Township, Edgar County, IL
On June 20, 1953 she married Dr. Donald C. Huffaker as he graduated from U.S Air Force Flight School. They were married over sixty years. They have a son, Donald Carl (Clara) who presently resides in Elgin, Illinois, and a daughter, Susan Louise, who presently lives in Alexandria, Virginia. They also have a grandson, James Joseph Huffaker, presently in college.
After the military, they lived in Champaign, Illinois, from 1956 to 1964 where Dr. Huffaker completed his academic studies. Then they lived in Monroeville, Pennsylvania for two years, then in Highland, Indiana for 25 years prior to retiring and moving back to Paris in 1992. While living in Highland, she was employed for 20 years as Secretary to the Superintendent of the Munster Schools.
She was very active in community activities as her children were growing up. In Girl Scouts, she was not only a Scout Leader, and had a Girl Scout Troop, but also was Publicity Chairman for the local scout council. She was active in band parents, PTA, and other school-related activities while her children were at the age levels. She was an avid reader, a talented pianist, an accomplished seamstress, and enjoyed painting, mostly pastoral scenes.
