Harold Harper Cartwright, age 93 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, December 25, 2014 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Danville, Illinois. He was a self-employed contractor, owning Cartwright Construction. He also was on the Paris, Illinois City Council in the late 1970's. He was an auctioneer and a well-known antique picker. Mr. Cartwright served in the United States Marine Corps in the Asiatic, Pacific area, participating in action at Peleliu Palau Islands, Okinawa, Ryuku Islands and in the occupation of China. He, with his son Dan, took part in the Indy Honor Flight September 6, 2014.
Born October 26, 1921 in Paris, Illinois, he was the son of the late Kit and Bessie Mae (Gordon) Cartwright. He married Leatha Adelin (Elledge) Cartwright in November, 1941, she passed away July 23, 1987. He is survived by his children, Dan C. Cartwright and his wife Janet of Franklin, Indiana and Pam Sisler and her husband Herb of Rockford, Illinois, five grandchildren; Steve Smith of Seattle, Washington, David Smith of Black Mountain, North Carolina, Amy McInteer of Franklin, Indiana, Jeff Cartwright of Greenwood, Indiana and Jennifer Peddycord of Franklin, Indiana, and ten great-grandchildren; Benjamin Kit Smith, Olive Mae Smith, Hudson Harper Smith, Megan Kleinhelter, Carson Kleinhelter, Lola Peddycord, Lauren Peddycord, Harper Cartwright, Reese Cartwright and Emily Kleinhelter. He was preceded in death by a companion, Jane Thompson and two half-sisters, Dorothy Cline and Mildred Curtis.

Visitation for Mr. Cartwright will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home with funeral services conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 in the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Edgar Cemetery.
Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 211 and VFW Post 3601.
