Gary Francis Brooks, age 75, of Paris, Illinois, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022 at 9:32 A.M.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Edgar Cemetery with Military Rites before.

Gary was born on March 2, 1947. He is the son of the late Virguel and Lela Fern (Rhoads) Brooks.

Gary proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army before his retirement in 1985. He then went onto work for the Department of Veteran Affairs until his retirement in 2012. Gary was a longtime and active member of Horace Baptist Church, and a frequent donor of the N.R.A. and St. Jude Children's Hospital.

He is survived by his children: Ashley (Tim) Malone of Paris, Illinois, Robin Brooks of Paris, Illinois; his grandchildren: Cara Brooks of Paris, Lindsey Malone of Paris, Makenzie (Bailey) Means of Brocton, Allison Dillon of Paris, Katelyn Malone of Paris; his four great-grandsons; and his brother, James A. (Edith) Brooks of Greer, South Carolina.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, and his infant great-grandson Abel Weston Rival Pine.

Memorials may be made to Horace Baptist Church.
