Gary L. Andrews, age 67, of Las Cruces, New Mexico and formerly of Hume, Illinois, gained eternal life on September 26, 2017 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Mr. Andrews was born March 23, 1950 in Clark County Illinois, the son of the late John William and Evelyn Louise (McNurlan) Andrews. He married Vera Kay (Fitzpatrick) Andrews on May 26, 1990 in Paris Illinois, and she survives. He is also survived by two sisters Lola Mullenix and Shirley Walker both of Paris Illinois, two children Jonathon (Courtney) Jones of Chrisman, Illinois, Jennifer (Phillip) McFarland of Ludowici, GA, five grandchildren that he loved with all his heart; Mackenzie McFarland, Taylor Jones, Garrett McFarland, Alexander McFarland and Bentley McFarland as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Everett (Bud) Andrews. Mr. Andrews served 4 years in the US Army in the Vietnam War. He was retired from the State of Illinois. He was also a member of The VFW in Paris, Illinois and The American Legion in Hume, Illinois. Mr. Andrews enjoyed riding his motorcycle, traveling, and being with his grandchildren. He also loved the Lord and was a member of The Hume Christian Church and Calvary Baptist Church in Las Cruses, New Mexico. Visitation for Mr. Andrews will be held from 9:00 am to 10:45 am Monday, October 2, 2017 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home in Paris, Illinois. Following the visitation, graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday at Franklin Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Paris VFW and Hume American Legion.
