Frieda Lucille Sudduth, age 102, passed away peacefully in her home at Brookstone Estates at 8:45 AM on Sunday, January 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 17, 1922, to the late Everett Carpenter and the late Grace Kauffman, Frieda lived a life rich in love, faith, and family.  She married Charles "Corky" Sudduth; he passed away on December 22, 1986.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and is survived by her son, Terry Sudduth of Paris; her grandchildren, Janah Sudduth-Mottola (Gregg Mottola) of Tolono, and Skylar Sudduth (Kelly Pease) of Litchfield; three great-grandchildren, Sumner, Valentino, and Ilyanna Mottola of Tolono; her siblings, Mary Bowman of Terre Haute, IN, Saundra Van Gilden of High Point, NC, and Jim Carpenter of Paris; and her great nephew, Scott Myers of Paris.

Frieda was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Corky" Sudduth; her sister and best friend, Helen (Carpenter) Rhyan; and her niece, Priscilla Myers.

A lifelong member of St. Mary's Church and the St. Mary's Altar Society, Frieda's faith was an integral part of her life.  Frieda was a very talented seamstress, making most of her grandchildren's Halloween costumes over the years; she also enjoyed crafting and refurbishing old pieces of furniture, many of which are now treasured pieces in her family's homes.

A graveside service and burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at St. Mary's Cemetery in Paris.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or the Edgar County Animal Shelter.
