Rev. Fr. Barry Joseph Harmon, age 58, of Springfield, Illinois, formerly of Paris, passed away at 10:25 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2021 at his home in Springfield, Illinois.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris, Illinois. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Paris, Illinois. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Fr. Barry was born on December 16, 1962 in Paris, Illinois, the son of the late Charles B. and Carolyn L. (Curl) Harmon.

He was a man of great faith, and he used that faith to become a Catholic Priest.

Fr. Barry was a cherished member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris, Illinois.

He was also active in the Knights of Columbus and the Knights of the Sepulcher.

Fr. Barry is survived by his siblings: Meg (Carl) Pena of Greenwood, Indiana, Julie (Robert) Benning of Jeffersonville, Indiana; his nieces: Rebecca Benning, Kathleen (Billy) Chinn, Allison Pena; his nephew: Brendan (Jaycie) Benning; and his great-nephew: Greyson Chinn.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
