Ernest Fred Tessman, age 86 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 7:03 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Regional Hospital, Terre Haute, Indiana. He was a Deputy Sheriff for the Edgar County Sheriff Department, formerly worked on the railroad as an auditor, was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and was a United States Marine Corps Veteran. He also was a member of Paris Masonic Lodge 268 AF & AM and Paris American Legion Post 211. Born February 15, 1930, he was the son of the late Ernest Otto Rudolf Tessman and the late Frances (Goronzi) Tessman. He married Ruth Ann (Newhart) Tessman January 10, 1959 and she passed away June 22, 2008. He then married Helen K. (Blank) Snider Tessman and she survives. Other survivors include his children; Alisa Tessman of Paris, Ernest Kevin (Jenna) Tessman of Paris, Amy (Mark) Anderson of Paris, and Beth (Chad) Robertson of Germantown, Tennessee, a sister Esther Ledbetter of Fairfield, California, a brother Herbert Tessman of Vandalia, Illinois, ten grandchildren; Heather (Phil) Rushenberg of Davenport, Iowa, Lindsay West of Terre Haute, Emily (Dustin) Wells of Terre Haute, Ernest Garet Tessman of Paris, Ernest Lane Tessman of Paris, Bailey Anderson of Paris, Cameron Anderson of Paris, Kylie Robertson of Germantown, Tennessee, Kendall Robertson of Germantown, Tennessee, and Kerrington Robertson of Germantown, Tennessee, and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth Ann, and a sister Hildegard Klitzing. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016 in Edgar Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 211 and VFW Post 3601. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Paris Rec Center or Twin Lakes All Abilities Playground.
