Eleanor D. Anker's Obituary

Eleanor Droll Anker, age 101 passed away on Tuesday May 19, 2020 after an extended illness. She was born to the late Sarah and Cyril Droll November 7, 1918.
Her husband Howard preceded her in death in 1972. She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Ann, two grandchildren John Anker and his wife Beverly, Sarah Frederick and her husband Daniel, five great grandchildren Ally Anker, Jenna Anker,
Gray Frederick, Libby Frederick, and Mary Kate Frederick.
Eleanor graduated from the University of Iowa with a BS Business Administration degree and was a member of Alpha Delta Sorority. She was employed twenty years at Horace Link & Co. in Paris Illinois as a private secretary and later as credit manager. She lived several places including Albany Georgia, Niceville Florida. In 2013 she moved to Roanoke Alabama.
Eleanor was an avid bridge player and earned her "Life Master Certificate" in 2010 after she had been playing duplicate bridge for less than five years. She continued playing in Anniston Alabama even after her 100 th birthday. She loved to travel, read, cook and be with friends and family. She will be remembered for her great zest for life, wit, and streak of mischievousness.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her loving caregivers at Traylor Manor II, Dr. Russell Peterson, and Compassus Hospice for the excellent care she received. It was such a comfort during the trying times of isolation during the pandemic.

Graveside services will be Wednesday June 17, 2020 in St. Mary's Cemetery in Paris, Illinois. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Stewart and Carroll funeral home will be handling the arrangements. In keeping with Federal Mandates the service is limited to immediate family only.
