Edmund Joseph Sheehy, age 73 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 1:57 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Horizon Health Paris Hospital. He was a farmer. Mr. Sheehy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshall, Illinois and Edgar County Farm Bureau. He was a 4-H leader, a blood donor for American Red Cross, a member of American Legion Post 211, and served on the Honor Guard for the Legion. He attended St. Mary's Grade School, Paris High School, and earned a B.S. Degree in Agriculture from Southern Illinois University.
Born December 8, 1945 in Paris, Illinois, he was the son of the late Edmund Leon and Kathryn Marie (Hill) Sheehy. He married Ruth Ann Moody August 17, 1968 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris, Illinois. Survivors include his wife Ruth Ann Sheehy of Paris, two sons, Brian (Natalie) Sheehy of Paris, and Cory (Anne) Sheehy of Marshall, a daughter Erin (Wes) Wells of Marshall, and eight grandchildren; McKinley Sheehy, Colin Sheehy, Kaylee Sheehy, Keegan Sheehy, Benjamin Sheehy, Thomas Sheehy, Charlotte Wells, and Everly Wells.
Visitation for Mr. Sheehy will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home in Paris. There will be private, family wake prayers. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshall, Illinois with Rev. Fr. Augustine Koomsman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Paris. Memorial contributions may be made to the "Garden of Hope" at Horizon Health Paris Hospital, the Rehabilitation Center at Horizon Health Paris Hospital or the PSR Children's Program at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshall.
