Dorothy "Dottie" Johnston Curl, age 94, of Paris, Illinois passed from this life at 2:53 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at the Horizon Health Hospital.
In keeping with State of Illinois mandates due to COVID-19 Pandemic, everyone attending the service must wear a mask while inside the funeral home. Everyone is welcome but we ask that you keep your visit short so that all who wish to pay their respects may do so.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday March 11, 2021 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home with visitation from 1p.m. until service time.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Dottie was born on January 2, 1927 in Edgar County, Illinois the daughter of late George G. Johnston and Gladys Chambers Johnston.
She married Donald J. Curl in Paris, Illinois on May 1, 1971. He preceded her in death on November 14, 2017.
Dottie and Don enjoyed wintering in Arizona, the summers camping and fishing near Casey, IL and Dottie's love for crocheting numerous afghan's she would generously give away.
Dottie was a valuable employee for Francis and Associates where she was employed as a secretary and was instrumental in the employment of Bob Calvin which eventually became the owner . Dottie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Altar Society and Epsilon Sigma Alpha where she served her community and church with years of service.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Heather (Eugene) Hart-Campbell and Jeff Martin; her great-great grandchildren: Aiden Hart-Campbell and Isabella Hart-Campbell; her step children: David Allen (Teresa) Curl of Tucson, Arizona, Daniel Kevin Curl of Gilbertville, KY, Debra Jo Hepburn of Georgetown, Illinois, Donna Marie (LJ) Johnson of Paris, Illinois; her nieces and nephews: Jim (Jackie) Holloway of Paris, Illinois, Connie Sue (Wayne) Greene of Scottsdale, Arizona
Dottie is preceded in death by her sons James R. Hart and George Alan Hart; her siblings: Mary Johnston Wright, Evelyn Stotts, and Ruth E. Holloway. Her son-in-law Mike Hepburn, daughter-in-law Tandy Curl, and great granddaughter Emma Grace Silvernail.
She adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews! Children always brought great smiles to her.
Dottie loved making the other residents at Brookstone feel good by talking and teasing with them during game time or meal time.
The family wishes to acknowledge the love shown to her by the Colvin family and the staff at Brookstone Estates.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shop with a Cop.
