Dorothy Ann Colter, 95, of Paris, passed away at 10:35 a.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the Haven of Paris in Paris, Illinois.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 9-11 a.m. at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home with the funeral service immediately following with Pastor Phil Tribby officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in rural Paris.
Dorothy was born in Buck Township, Il on January 23, 1930, the daughter of the late Walter Paul and Elsie May Adams Trine.
She married Paul Colter on October 23, 1954, in Shawneetown, Il. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2020.
Dorothy was a worker. Whether it was during her younger years raising Angus Cattle, her many years working for Colson's, or her time spent at local grain elevators, she never shied away from a difficult task.
Dorothy was a long time and active member of the Paris Nazarene Church, where she spent most Sundays playing the piano.
She enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her family, and you could always count on Dorothy to have a fresh pan of brownies at her house for everyone to enjoy.
Dorothy is survived by daughters: Shirley (Robert) Stolz of Paris, Cindy "Gwen" Eberly Reid of San Diego; grandchildren: Linda (Joel) Sherer, Dale (Cassie) Colter, Katie (Cody) Vaughn all of Paris, Brian (Lauren) Stolz of Charleston, Lisa (Steve) Winters of Tolono, Lindsay Reid of San Diego; Great grandchildren: Lindsay Colter, Emma Sherer, Austin Winters, J.T. Sherer, Logan Stolz, Colten Vaughn, Elena Stolz, Elsie Jean Vaughn, and William Colter.
She is preceded in death by her son: Larry Colter; Daughter in law: Julia Colter; grandson: Matthew Reid; siblings: James Walter Trine, Julia May McGinness, Roberta Rose Trine, Leslie Adams Trine, and Robert Paul Trine.
