Donald L. "Pete" Hays, age 85 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 2:44 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2014 in Pleasant Meadows Christian Village, Chrisman, Illinois. He was a switchman for Penn Central Railroad and was a member of Antioch Church. Born December 26, 1928 in Paris, Illinois, he was the son of the late Olin and Cevera Lee Hays. He married Marilyn Willison Hays February 17, 1945 in Paris and she passed away December 18, 2003. Survivors include three sons; Terry Hays and his wife Susie of Kansas, Illinois, Merle Hays and his wife Evelyn of Paris, Illinois and Kenneth Hays and his wife Dorothy of Paris, Illinois, ten grandchildren; Kelly Jo Carnine and her husband Ed of Osan Air Force Base, South Korea, Mike Hays and his wife Crystal of Paris, Illinois, Emily Hughes and her husband Mark of Hillsboro, Illinois, Misty Lockhart and her husband Marcus of St. Joseph, Illinois, Justin Hays and his wife Courtni of Paris, Illinois, Jasmin Hays of Paris, Illinois, Cheston Hays and his wife Brandi of Paris, Illinois, Chandra Smith and her husband Alvin of Paris, Illinois, Charla Beabout and her husband Bruce of Paris, Illinois and Alyx Hays of Paris, Illinois and twenty-six great grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Hays will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.
