Donald Raymond Goodwin's Obituary

Donald Raymond Goodwin, age 88 of Paris, Illinois, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was an Engineering Technician for Illinois Department of Transportation. Don was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 860, enjoyed playing pinochle with his family and friends, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren and traveling, especially to Branson, Missouri. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Born August 12, 1930 in Decatur, Illinois, he was the son of the late Harry Gene and Anna Marie (Fryman) Goodwin. He married Glenda Marie Ruot March 31, 1955 in Dalton City, Illinois; she passed away May 22, 2007. Survivors include children; Greg (Sherry) Goodwin of Paris, Mark (Teri) Goodwin of Danville, Illinois, Phil Goodwin of Paris, Kara (Jeff) Brinkley of Paris, Susan Baty of Florence, Kentucky, and Andy (Holly) Goodwin of Paris, three siblings; William Goodwin of Colorado, Ruthie Goodwin (Hank) Sills of Bethany, Illinois, and Harvey "Ozzie" (Virginia) Goodwin of Decatur, Illinois, grandchildren; Josh (Bridget) Goodwin, Amy (Jon) Simpson, Bryant (Brittany) Goodwin, Kassie (Jake) Miller, Heath (Elisa) Goodwin, Connor Goodwin, Ashley (Stanley) Williams, Jessica Vance, A.J. (Esther) Van Steenberg, Morgan Van Steenberg, Tabitha (Megan) Goodwin, Koel Connelley, Laura Baty, Steven Baty, and Nathan Goodwin, and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Glenda Marie Goodwin, and two daughters, Julie Van Steenberg and Tina Hampsten.

Visitation for Mr. Goodwin will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 211.  Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Christmas For Kids or ECCF, Inc., Do It Fund.
