Donald R. Finney, 86, of Paris, passed away at 3:34 a.m., on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Gibson Family Hospice Center in Terre Haute, Indiana.

A visitation is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Edgar Cemetery.

Donald was born on July 29, 1937, in Redmon, Illinois, the son of Donald and Agatha Faye Farris Finney. He married Shirley Ellen Cartright on July 26, 1958, in Oakland, Illinois. She precedes him in death.

Donald was in the heating and air conditioning industry, owning his own business in Paris for many years before his retirement. He was a long-time member of the local Elks Club, involved in tractor pulling for 52 years, as a member of both the Illinois and American Tractor Pullers Associations. In 1973, Donald won the National Garden Tractor Pulling Championship, as well as the 2002 ATPA Championship. When he wasn't pulling, you could find Donald bowling or playing cards with his family and friends.

He is survived by his children: Terry Finney of Greenup, Illinois, Greg (Jan) Finney of Paris, Lorelei (Brian) Whitezel of Paris; his grandchildren: Dustin Whitezel, Danielle Jena; his great-grandchildren: Gracie Whitezel, Austin Jena, Katelyn Jena; and his brother Wayne Finney of Decatur, Illinois.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
