David "Shorty" Ray Laughead's Obituary

David Ray "Shorty" Laughead, age 76 of Paris, Illinois passed away at 2:15 AM on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Embarrass Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #211.

Shorty was born on August 19, 1948, in Paris, Illinois to Dwight and Norma Jean (Brown) Laughead. He married Jennifer Vlahos on September 5, 1970, and she survives.

Shorty proudly served his country as member in the United States Navy. He was fumigator at Cargill for many years and a member of the Paris Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, his children: James David Laughead (Eron) and Chad Robert Laughead (Angela); and his grandchildren: Isaiah Laughead, Emily Laughead, Jimmy Alden, Chayston Laughead, Ashton Laughead and Chase Hayworth.

Shorty is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings: Dwight Laughead, Dwayne Laughead, and Donald Laughead.

Memorial contributions may be made to Paris Christian Church or the Edgar County Animal Shelter.
