Daniel W. (Dan) Chesrown, Jr., age 86 of Brocton, IL passed away at 1:30 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2016 in Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, Chrisman. He was a farmer, DeKalb Seed Corn Dealer, Embarrass Township Road Commissioner and a clerk for Herschel Ketchum Pubic Auctions.

Services are 10 a.m., Thursday, August 18, 2016 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home in Paris. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic services by Lodge 219 A.F. & A.M. of Oakland are 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial is in Embarrass Cemetery. Military Honors will be by Brocton American Legion and the Oakland V.F.W.

Memorials may be made to the Embarrass Park Fund or Pleasant Meadows Senior Living.

Dan was born August 18, 1929 in Brocton the son of the late Daniel W. Chesrown, Sr. and Lafern Zimmerman Chesrown.

He married Patsy Jean Breneman Chesrown April 14, 1957 in Paris and she passed away November 28, 2004.

Dan is survived by several cousins and a special friend Joan Young of Paris. He was a good friend and neighbor to many.

He was a 60 year member of Lodge 219 A.F. & A.M. in Oakland, a member of Ansar Shrine Temple in Springfield, the Edgar County Shrine Club, a cook for the Annual Edgar County Shrine Barbecue, Edgar County Elks B.P.O.E. 812, Life member of Brocton American Legion Post 977, Edgar County Farm Bureau, Brocton Fire Department Trustee, Brocton Improvement Association, Democrat Precinct Committeeman of Embarrass Township and Chairman of the Edgar County Board and served in the U.S. Army from May 11, 1953 to February 10, 1955.

Dan was instrumental in transporting children to the Shriner's Hospital for children.
