Dallas Cleo Baker, a man known for his endless stories, quick wit, unwavering kindness, and deeply generous heart, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026, in Paris, Illinois. He was 86 years old.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Washington Park in Robinson, Illinois. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Born on August 19, 1939, in Woodstock, Virginia, Dallas was the son of the late Carl and Hilda Baker. He was a devoted brother to Janice Ketterman, Jerry Baker, and the late Daniel Baker.

Dallas was a proud and loving father to Nathan Baker (Sarah Baker), Johnny Baker, and David Baker. He was also a cherished grandfather to many grandchildren, including Sean Baker (Ariel Baker), Bethanne Boyd, Keri-Jo Koehler, Brandon Baker, Brittany B., and several others. His love continued through his many great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.

Family was the center of Dallas’s world. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by the people he loved most. He took every opportunity to remind his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren how proud he was of them and how deeply he believed in each of them. His encouragement, unconditional love, and unwavering support will remain with them forever.

Dallas never met a stranger. Whether through his bright smile, a well-timed joke, or one of his countless stories, he had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. He embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm, always eager for a new adventure, to learn something new, or simply enjoy the company of others.

As he grew older, Dallas discovered a love for traveling and experiencing new places. He embraced every opportunity to explore, finding joy in new adventures, different communities, and the memories made along the way.

Fiercely independent, he continued to live life on his own terms while remaining steadfastly protective of those he loved. He had a lifelong love for animals and shared his home with many beloved pets over the years. Among them all, his treasured bearded dragon, Spike, held a very special place in his heart.

Dallas was truly the heartbeat of our family. His love, laughter, wisdom, and unwavering belief in those around him shaped generations. He brought out the very best in all of us, and his absence leaves a space that can never be filled.

He will be forever loved, forever remembered, and deeply missed by his children, siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and the many friends whose lives were brighter because they knew him.
