Chester Jean Dalrymple, age 90, of Paris, Illinois passed away at 3:11 P.M. on Saturday, June 11, 2022.
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. with Masonic Service at 9:45 A.M. on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home with burial in Woodland Cemetery in Chrisman, Illinois.
Jean was born on July 13, 1931 at home in Chrisman, Illinois, a son of Chester J. and Margaret Dalrymple. He married Shirley I. Cook on February 14, 1953 in the Baptist Church of Chrisman by Rev. F. E. Pyle. She preceded Jean in death on September 28, 2012.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Dorothy Dalrymple of Warren, Ohio; nieces and nephews: Doug (Claudia) Dalrymple of Courtland, Ohio, Steve (Betsy) Dalrymple of Warren, Ohio, Mary (Marty) Patrick of Hubbard, Ohio, Charles (Annalisa) Dalrymple of Williamsburg, Virginia, Marion (Jean) Cook of Martinsville, Illinois, Steve (Jane) Blair of Paris, Illinois, and Bryan (Dee) Hartley of Dawson, Illinois.
Jean was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother Carl Dalrymple; brother-in-law Vernon Cook; sister-in-law, Mildred Cook; sister-in-law, Bettie Blair; brother-in-law, John Blair; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Keith) Hartley; his nieces: Debbie Dalrymple, Judith Cook, Dr. Becky Hartley; and his nephew, Jim Blair.
Jean graduated from Chrisman High, received a Pre Engineering Degree from Eastern Illinois University and attended The University of Illinois. He served two years in the US Army, six months in training, one year in Korea during the war and six months at White Sands Proving Grounds testing missile and atomic warhead components. He was a retired Manufacturing Engineer for thirty-nine years at Meco. He supervised electrical assembly contracts, was on-site engineer for expansion buildings on Marshall St. and construction of Mr. Charlie's restaurant, but his favorite duty was programming a five-axis CNC laser machine.
Jean was Past Master and fifty-plus year member of Prairie Lodge No. 77 A. F. & A. M., Life Member of Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Danville, member of Ansar Shrine, Life Member of Chrisman Post 477 American Legion and Life Member Paris Post 3601 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Jean was a past Illinois State Manager and past Illinois State Treasurer for the holiday Rambler Recreational Vehicle Club, where he was currently a member Emeritus. He helped organize and was the Charter President of the local Chapter. He traveled from coast to coast helping with rallies. He loved camping in the Smoky Mountains and at Myrtle Beach.
