Charles William Hugg, 89, of Chrisman, IL formerly of Paris passed away at 3:18 p.m., Friday October 24, 2014 at the Pleasant Meadows Senior Living LLC, in Chrisman. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home, Paris. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery north of Paris. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 211 and V.F.W. 3601. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church in care of Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home.

Charles was a lifelong farmer in Edgar County. He was a school bus driver for Crestwood Unit# 4, owned and operated Hugg's Grocery Store in Oliver, and was employed by Zenith Corporation retiring March 15, 1984.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Paris, the American Legion Post 211 and V.F.W. 3601.

Charles was a decorated WW II U.S Army Veteran serving in the infantry from April of 1943 to December of 1945.

He was a well-known area country music musician and was entered into the Wabash Valley Country Music Hall of Fame in Terre Haute, IN. Charles played music for Winston Churchill's birthday while in Germany. He was the last surviving member of the Farmer Stultz Band.

Charles was born November 9, 1924 in Hunter Township, Edgar County, IL the son of the late Roscoe and Blanche Gore Hugg.

He married Norma Jean Myers Hugg June 8, 1946 in Paris and she passed away December 21, 2013.

Charles is survived by his children Don (Jackie) Hugg of Terre Haute, IN, David (Jean) Hugg of Paris; his sister Lena Mae Rhoads of Paris; his grandchildren Mike Hugg, Lisa Hugg, Brenda Hugg, Keith Hugg and Gretchen Hugg; six great-grandchildren, one great-great- grandchild, five step grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren.
