Charles Edward Eveland, age 90 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 8:35 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Paris Healthcare Center in Paris. Mr. Eveland was a veteran of the United States Army, was retired from the J.I. Case Company, and had worked for the City of Paris at Potts Lane. He was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Marshall American Legion Post 90, and the 1544th U.S. Army National Guard Transportation Company.
Born September 30, 1928 in Paris, Illinois, he was the son of the late Robert and Ida Rosalie (Humphrey) Eveland. Mr. Eveland married Betty I. (Perry) Eveland October 29, 1949 in Paris, Illinois and she passed away May 8, 2003. He then married Larma "Susie" (Haavisto) Malone Eveland June 24, 2004 in Henry County, Tennessee and she survives. Other survivors include three children; Betty Jean Scroggin of Mt. Pulaski, Illinois, Dennis Eveland of Plano, Texas, and Janice Peterson of Paris, Illinois, two siblings, Robert Eveland of Paris, Illinois and Marcella Johnson of Paris, Illinois, five grandchildren; Travis Scroggin of New Berlin, Illinois, Nicole Meagher of Mt. Pulaski, Illinois, Andy Scroggin of Clinton, Illinois, Petie Peterson of Paris, Illinois, and Colt Peterson of Paris, Illinois, and ten great grandchildren; Ava Scroggin, Allee Scroggin, Kiersten Meagher, Kayla Meagher, Braden Meagher, Wesley Meagher, Elijah Scroggin, Issac Scroggin, Trey Peterson, and Emery Peterson. He was preceded in death by three siblings; James Eveland, Kathryn Hiddle, and Eugene Eveland and one great grandchild Gabriel Scroggin.
Visitation for Mr. Eveland will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2019 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Dixon officiating.
