Carroll Steven Spencer, 79, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 11:27 AM on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Following cremation, graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on September 18, 2025 at Danville National Cemetery in Danville, Illinois. Memorial dinner will follow at 4:00 PM at the Paris VFW.

Steven was born on September 21, 1945, in Chrisman, Illinois to Wilbur and Dorothy Spencer. He married Phyllis Murphy, and she survives.

He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam veteran. After his military service, he built a career as a self – employed contractor.

Steven is survived by his wife, Phyllis Spencer; his son, Richard Spencer (Cindy) of Dennison, IL; his daughter, Dina Gass (Michael) of Mattoon, IL; stepson, Michael Crenshaw of Detroit, MI; stepdaughters, Aisha Crenshaw of Detroit, MI, and Rashonda Crenshaw of Detroit, MI; two grandsons, Riley Spencer (Lauren) of Fort Wayne, IN, and Brody Spencer (Erin) of Paris, IL; his brother, Richard Spencer of Meredosia, IL; sisters, Joyce Yates of Sarasota, FL, and Carolyn Marshall of Green River, WY.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George Spencer.
