Carroll Eugene Butler, 80, of Gibson City, Illinois formerly of Paris, passed away at 3:08 a.m., on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Embarrass Cemetery in Brocton, Illinois.

Carroll was born on July 16, 1943, in Redmon, Illinois, the son of Harold Eugene and Cloah Ophrus Nicholson Butler. He married Debbie Thornton in June of 1997; she precedes him in death.

Carroll was a mill worker for the cereal mill in Paris, for many years before his retirement. He loved his family, and especially watching his grandkids play sports. Carroll enjoyed being outdoors, mowing his yard and riding his motorcycle. He was a great cook, who enjoyed searching for and writing down good recipes.

Carroll is survived by his children: Ricky Eugene (Cheryl) Butler of Dallas, Texas, Bradley Brian (Amy) Butler of Gibson City, Dakota Butler of Gibson City; his grandchildren: Brysen Butler, Sarah Butler, and Nicholas Butler.

He is preceded in death by his daughter: Vicki Renee Butler; and one brother.
