Carolyn Kay Johnson (Young) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 12, 2025.  She was born in Paris, IL to the late Howard and Wanda Young.

She is survived by her husband Jeff Johnson, daughter Candi (Bryan) Thomas and son Cody (Heather) Gillaspie, her grandchildren, Madison (LJ) Thomas, Macy (Cedric) Wilder, Hope Gillaspie, Lillian (Michael) Holmes, Hana Gillaspie, and Jake Gillaspie.  She had 4 great grandchildren, Dexter, Malakai, Judah, and Keagan.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Tom, and great grandchild Malakai.

Carolyn loved her family and especially loved being with her grandchildren.  She loved showering them with gifts and sugar.  She enjoyed working in her yard, especially mowing, reading, puzzles, watching any Kevin Costner movie, and music.    She was famous in her family for making the best sweet tea, but being a horrible cook (which she would willingly admit).  She worked as a nurse for many years caring for the elderly.  She was so loved and will be deeply missed.

Interment will be private at a later date. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
