Carl J. Miller, age 101, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 in his residence.
Born June 17, 1911 in Hume, Illinois, he was the son of the late G.V. and Maude (Armstrong) Miller. He was a self-employed farmer.
Mr. Miller was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was an excellent marksman and was awarded first place in a National Trap Shooting competition. He enjoyed dirt track racing in Macon County and the surrounding area. He was Macon County Speedway Champion in 1957. Carl also was an avid hunter, trapper and outdoorsman and raised champion short horn cattle for several years.
Survivors include his nieces and nephews; Alice Rigdon of Paris, Illinois, Glenn A. Miller of McClainsboro, Illinois, Carl W. Miller of Shelbyville, Illinois, Beverly Hawk of Ohio, and Joan McCormick of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters; Irene Miller, George Miller, Waldo Miller, Faye Gard and Fern Redmon.

Visitation for Mr. Miller will be held from Noon to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home with Brother Fred Leeds officiating.
Burial will follow in Edgar Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Wildlife Federation or the charity of the donor's choice.
