Brenda Joyce Lock, age 64, of Vermilion, Illinois passed away at 1:10 P.M. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

A visitation is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Paris, Illinois. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the church with burial in Vermilion Cemetery. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family.

She was born in Paris, Illinois on September 10, 1957. The daughter of the late Ruth Peebles. She married Randy Lock on February 1, 2020. He survives.

During her years, Brenda worked at the Edgar County Health Department as a Receptionist, was the Mayor of the Village of Vermilion and a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Paris.

She is survived by her children: Jennifer (Chris) Foley of Terre Haute, Indiana, Kara (Mark) Brinkerhoff of Paris, Illinois, Mark Mattingly of Paris, Illinois; her grandchildren: Austin Roberts, Adrian, J.R., Chase and Wyatt Brinkerhoff, Leyton, Owen, Waylon, Weston, and Addilynn Mattingly; her siblings: Don and Peggy Cline, Jack and Marilyn Chord; and special family members, Margaret Borodach and Gordon Peebles.

Brenda is preceded in death by her 3 sisters: Pat Willoughby, Barb Ogden, Bessie Switzer; 1 brother, William Cline, and a grandson, Trevor Roberts.

Brenda had a heart for helping others. She would buy groceries for the hungry, give rides to strangers and find shelter for those in need. She put her faith and trust in God to help her through every circumstance. Her love for her children, grandchildren, and her family was beyond measure. She lived for her children and grandchildren. If anyone needed anything she would be there without any hesitation. Brenda touched the lives of many people and will always be remembered for her love and compassion she had for others.
