Betty Hummer, age 87 of Las Cruces, New Mexico and formerly of Paris, Illinois, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Mesilla Valley Hospice, Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was a member of the Artamonts painters of southern New Mexico and has been represented in many publications and private shows. Her work was carried by Cutter galleries of New Mexico. Born 8/24/25, she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Marie Englum of Paris, Illinois. She married Howard Hummer on 6/19/47 and he passed away 7/16/1998. Survivors include Jerry Hummer her son from Chicago Illinois, and Ryan Hummer her grandson from Melbourne Australia. She was preceded in death by a son, James P. Hummer. Following cremation, a memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris, Illinois. Burial of the cremains will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be no visitation.  Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
