Barbara Ann Carroll, age 83 of Chrisman, Illinois (formerly Danville, IL), peacefully passed away at 12:15 P.M. on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living in Chrisman.

Visitation will take place from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 18, 2023, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 211 Center Street, Hume, IL 61932. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at the church. Barbara will be laid to rest in Payne Cemetery after the mass.

Born on December 12, 1939, in Oakland, Illinois, Barbara was the daughter of Herbert and Ruth (Arnold) Nolan. On December 27, 1958, she married Frank Norbert Carroll at St. Thomas in Brocton, IL, who survives her.

Barbara dedicated several years of her life as a receptionist at the Danville Eye Clinic and later at Chittick Family Eye Care in Danville, Illinois. She was a dedicated member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Danville. Her granddaughters held a special place in her heart, and she cherished spending time with them and attending their activities. Daily walks with her husband brought her great joy, and she had a deep love for animals, delighting in their many pets and observing wildlife, especially birds.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband; her children: Connie (Grant) Cunningham of Fairmount, Illinois, Keith (Lori) Carroll of Brocton, Illinois, Christine (Kevin) Owens of Pullman, Washington; her six granddaughters: Kayla (Breiton), Isabella, Nina, Carissa, Josephine, and Alexa; her brother: James (Shirley) Nolan of Ashmore, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Shanahan, and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Pleasant Meadows Senior Living Activity Fund.
